need help with build

Thread Starter
hi there. i am new to this whole forum thing so please dnt yell if i post in the wrong area.
i am currently in the process of building a new pc but i have run into a problem. it will not power on.i push the power button and it flickers for a sec then cuts off.
i installed a gigabyte 970a-d3 mobo with an amd fx 8150 cpu into a apevia x-dreamer 3 tower. using a apevia 750w power supply, 8 gb of corsair ram. i have checked all my connections and they seem to be correct. i also rechecked to make sure cpu was properly seated in the correct place. and yes i did charge my self off by touching the case before i started working on this project.

I am stump. any ideas would be of great help.

already checkd the ram. unless both sticks are fried, i dnt think that is the problem

Hi Poooh21! welcome to OCN.

How did you check the ram? You also said that the computer flickers. what flickers? is it the fans, or the lights in the computer? Does your motherboard have a power button on it? If so try using that one instead of the power button. (chances of it being the power button is very slim to none, but just to check)

When troubleshooting a dead computer, the first thing you should do is to minimize the possible problem areas. By this I mean to run with 1 stick of ram, 1 hdd (unless you don't have an OS installed yet, then run without a HDD and boot to BIOS). Just limit the possible areas.

Another area to check is that you have your connectors hooked up correctly for the power button. Come back to after answering these and I will try and think of other items to check before ruling a dead component.

Let Us know. Good Luck.
