HP dv6 9 cell battery issues

I have a 6 cell that works fine.

However, with my 9 cell in it takes an extremely long time to charge and if I unplug it my laptop turns off.

Is there any way I can fix this?

it takes extremely long to charge because i think you have a 90W charger and a dual core processor therefore less energy/second is provided to the laptop battery. The laptop turns off when you unplug he battery is probably because your battery is dead and the only way the energy is provided to the laptop is through the power supply, so even if you remove the 9 cell battery you can run the laptop using the AC adapter only. In other words, you can throw your 9 cell battery away because it can't hold a charge anynmore

It sounds like your 9 cell battery is faulty... I had a work laptop that would always say it was charging but never did, and as soon as I unplugged it, it would fail... Did you just get the 9 cell? did you buy it from HP?

Thanks sorry for the late reply. You can see the laptop in my sig.

I have had the laptop for a year and a few months. The 9 cell came with the laptop when I bought it from HP.

How ridiculous that I only get barely over a year with my 9 cell! And of course my warranty expired in June. However I think there was a battery recall on my laptop series so maybe I can figure out if I qualify for a replacement. I'll have to try later I'm too occupied on other things to commit to this right now.

Thanks for the help!

Well it seems you didn't handle your battery properly. There are tons of threads including mines, asking for how to treat your battery so that it lasts longer than 1 year with good amount of battery life.

I think you just let your battery heat up like ********* and that's how your battery lost its charging capacity. You will just have to throw that battery away..
