Windows 8 cold boot faster than hibernate or hybrid boot

Thread Starter
Ive got a problem for some reason my system is resuming from hibernation slower than my system cold boots, this also effects the hybrid boot in windows 8. When I turn hibernation off I boot to windows in 16 seconds but when I put my pc in hibernation or I turn on windows fast startup it takes 21 - 25 seconds. This is really bugging me as fast startup is supposed to be one of the main features of windows 8.

Does anyone have any ideas????

With the advent of SSDs, there is no need for the outmoded, energy wasting sleep/hibernation modes that cause more problems than they are worth. There are people who use those features and post here with nothing but wake, boot and response problems. This included myself and since I disabled that feature my problems went away. This feature has always been inherently buggy for some people with certain set-ups/hardware. Now that I can cold boot my computer within 8-9 seconds, why even use sleep/hibernation and waste all kinds of energy.

I was more worried about the hybrid boot not working as its supposed to be one of the main features of windows 8!

How did you manage to get your system booting that fast wow I would be very happy with a 9 second cold boot

I got a Crucial mSata SATA III 6GB that connects directly to my asRock z77e-itx mobo (see pics in build log in sig). Its wicked fast as boot-up to Windows is from anywhere between 6-9 secs.

I have the same problem. I boot in about 25 seconds but that's because my bios/uefi takes 20 seconds. Windows takes 5. You sure you don't have the same problem? Because that's not something windows can fix.

Maybe Im being pedantic but I spent a lot of money on this rig and just want the best performance and when I see other people using windows 8 fast startup and booting in 10 seconds and my rig for some reason boots in 25 seconds with fast boot enabled I can't help being bugged by it and wonder what is wrong with my setup

Didn't even know there was a "fast boot" option. Where is it?
