Would running 4 sticks in seperate dual channel DDR3 1600 be worse than Dual channel 2 sticks

Thread Starter
Alright im running 2 sticks of DDR3 1600 MHZ RAM CORSAIR 9-9-9-24 X.MP which is 4GB x2 = 8 GB of RAM, Im thinking of upgrading to 16 GB OF RAM because i do use alot of RAM due to browsing firefox with 100 tabs open and games but then i would need to buy 2 more 4 GB CORSAIR RAM Sticks and they would be running on there own dual channel and since i don't have quad channel as it isnt really existant mainstream yet im wondering if running 4 sticks with both in there own dual channel would be worse and slow down the RAM. thanks, Would i be better off buying 8 GB Sticks and run those in dual channel. Or will it not really make a difference.

No. Itll still be running dual channel just like you have now, the only difference will be the amount of stress your IMC sees and potentially making your current OC unstable. As the IMC sees more stress you may or may not have to modify voltages and timings to get the stability back. Just watch the heat and you should be fine.

no, it will not slow down the RAM, that is not affect performance, just put one kit in CH-A and the other in CH-B and you will be fine..

The only downfall is the higher strain as suggested above. CPU overclocking poetantial is also affected to some degree, but rather minor tbh. If you do get 16GB, you should run your games using ramdisk software! thumb.gif
