Thanks for the catch. I forgot "sailor" would the basic proper title. That is as bad as people calling me a pilot.

I have to chuckle whenever I see fellows taking the 'friendly' rivalry a bit too far, when they aren't being an annoyance that is.

On Topic: LOR (Letter of reprimand) isn't anything to take lightly, but compared to what could have happened, should be the least of their worries. Goes on their record but won't be anything major to hold them back [hopefully]. I just hope it serves as a lesson to them and others to respect/not break rules 1 and 2 of NDA Club...not talking about NDA club, and not releasing any information housed under NDA Club... lol.

Off Topic: I hear shippie more common than squid; I normally use squid when talking about motorcycle riders who ride about with an obscene lack of gear/overly aggressive riding style.

Yea, I have done extensive research on the seals out of sheer respect and awe of what they do. So I understand the type of deep commitment it takes (at least the best a civi ever will, which isn't really ****...).

That's why I can't understand why there been such a explosion in "defectors" of the seal tradition over these past few years? I guess they are still varying personalities in the teams. Even so, I was always under the assumption that one thing they held in common was NOT advertising their actions to the public.

My guess is that the info was equipment load out and radio procedures...I know those are a couple things that always rub me the wrong way as player. I think no one would ever be carrying that combination of equipment and most games don't come too close to the correct radio procedures and protocols.

Heh, and speaking as a former Marine...the Air Force is the best. Man, most of the Air Force people I bumped into had more freedom than I do now as civilian. It was like they were not even in the military...more like high school.

As a military member you CANNOT do whatever the hell you want, there are standards of behaviour that applies even when you're out of uniform (and on active duty) -- The SEAL members that shared classified info violated the UCMJ and if you violate the UCMJ (uniform code of military justice), you WILL pay the price.
I don't believe civvies will ever understand this. You can't break the rules in the military unless you want to see the man and lose rank / money. Losing rank when you're well into your career will break your ability to retire or even stay in. You can vilify the brass all you want -- but the SEAL members violated the UCMJ period. The UCMJ is black and white and has existed for a long time - you cannot ever, under any circumstance, share classified information.
This isn't the civilian world where you can BS your way out of breaking the rules. You break the rules and get caught while under military contract, you will get NJP'ed or court martialed for a serious offense. If any of these happen to you, it can destroy your life if severe enough, so obviously military members usually try to avoid being in the wrong -- military justice is harsh. Don't like it? They shouldn't have joined - they knew they were in the wrong by sharing this info, I am certain of this. All military members have a good understanding of what they can and cannot do, there are not many shades of gray here.

I'm pretty sure that they won't have ANY trouble being successful in the private sector if this ends their careers. I know I'd give them a job. And yes I'm ex-military and had the pleasure of facing the "man" myself once or twice.

I did and I am not ashamed to say I didn't make it past week 3. It was being pushed out of a boat 10 miles off shore with one flipper and goggles and a partner that couldn't swim that decided it for me. I could nail most of the physical crap, but relying on someone who is not up to the challenge and then being failed for it got me. I'm more of a lone wolf and that is not good in a team situation.

Having to swim 10 miles? Yep. I would definitely cry the second I hit the water, and start praying for a fatal aneurysm.

On a more serious note, congrats on making as far as you did. Many couldn't even come close to making it 3 weeks I'm sure.
