My current home/computer audio is an Onkyo HT-S3500 5.1-Channel Home Theater (HT-R391 Receiver (100-120w/channel) and considering picking up Polk Audio Monitor50, Monitor60, and-or Monitor70 Floorstanding Loudspeakers. All my music, game, and movie audio will be sourced from my computer's on-board optical or discreet video card's HDMI. In the future this might be replaced by a discreet sound card (HT OMEGA eClaro or ASUS XONAR STX) depending on funds/sales.
So is it wise to buy four Monitor50/60/70 speakers for my 5.1 system? Are the differences that great between the Monitor50/60/70 models? I can pickup the Monitor60/70 speakers for about $150/ea and the Monitor50 speakers for about $75/ea. In addition, I am willing to take suggestions on whether or not to get an amp for the speaker's bi-amp.
Also, I am under the knowledge that my receiver is only able to handle passive sub-woofers. Are there any well-priced compatible and better subwoofers on market for such a receiver or will the Monitor50/60/70 speakers' bass be more then enough alongside my existing Onkyo S3500's subwoofer?
I am willing to spend between $500-900, that figure might change depending on extra shift coverage at work or any other expenses (tools for making custom computer parts, furniture, etc.).
Edit: Also, if anyone has a better suggestion on speakers of comparable price or around that price range it would be most appreciated.
