Thankfully, Roccat is in NA now, so to me... Razer mice and keyboards are an afterthought at best. I can't tell you how happy I am with my Roccat mouse, and will be buying a Roccat keyboard next month. I AM using Razer headphones... but until they screw these up, i'll be happy.

His statement is a lie. You can't say at the same time that the software isn't DRM, and then proceed to call your servers "activation servers". You need to activate the mouse one time in order to acess its full functionality. It doesn't matter if there is an offline mode. Windows must also be activated once, it's called DRM. He doesn't - and can't - say that the software is completely optional, because it isn't. Hence the "activation servers" part of his argument.

I think we should all have our basic concepts of what DRM is in place.

The whole idea is also based on a false premise. NAND flash is getting cheaper and cheaper, currently below $ 1 per gigabyte. I'm talking about SSD grade flash memory, not memory card flash memory, which is even cheaper. So, according to Razer CEO's own words on Facebook, 128 kb of storage is enough to store the profiles and macros for a normal gamer and 1 MB for a hardcore gamer. May I remind you that even an obsolete floppy disk is enough to store 1.44 megabytes of data.

Enough said. His excuse for a cloud based driver is a joke. You can perfectly have cheap on-board memory on the mouse itself or have the option of saving the profiles on your HDD or on a pen to go to LAN parties and use with other compatible Razer mice.

Yeah this was mostly in part due to the press Synapse 2.0 was recieving with OCN on the forefront.

We received a lot of attention and links back to this post. Razer Synapse 2.0 software/mouse unusable if you dont have an internet connection or their....

Gears and Gadgets & Betanews.

Basically the CEO last night put out a revised statement further clarifying and announcing that Razer reversed their previous decision and will now give the option for offline settings not being forced to have an online connection to use Razer products. It's good news to those who do buy Razer products and even to those who don't as a privacy advocate. Score one for the little guy and for Razer the ability to realize it was not a good idea. smile.gif
