Looking for new "gaming" headset

Thread Starter
I'm looking for a new headset since my G35 cable is messed up (can't get refund, so yeah..)

I never liked the G35 that much, virtual 7.1 was terrible and I wish I had bought Sennheiser 360 instead.

So what would be good headset to go with, any suggestions?

My budget is 200e I'd like to note that I don't have Sound card currently (Realtek ALC889)

Currently looking at Sennheiser 360 + cheap soundcard.

Those are really nice but a decent sound card is a must. also, they are open back design which means if you game at a LAN or in a noisy environment, a lot of sound leaks in. If this is a problem, the pc350s sound almost exactly the same, are a little cheaper, and are way quieter. A higher quality sound card makes a bigger difference that a higher quality headset so take that into consideration when deciding what you get

I would go wit the ATH-AD700s they are excellent for games especially if you play fps games and they sound pretty good for music gives you plenty of sound stage. Oh and they don't require an amp though it helps im sure.

there is some reviews here.

agreed except you have to buy an external mic and those rely heavily on a sound card

Ok thanks, any suggestion to as what sound card to get?

350 and 360 price difference is around 10e in Finland. I might order from germany though, it's a lot cheaper.

Thanks for the suggestion and review. I searched some more and it seems like a good pair, costs around same 350 & 360.

Is there a version of it with mic?

there is no version with a mic and as for a sound card goes it totally depends on your budget. here are three really good options though that cover a broad range of prices:

360 & XONAR DX-XD looks good currently.
is Xonar DG even worth getting? It's cheap for sure, but what about quality. I bet it beats integrated sound, but still.

The third one is just too expensive for me atm.

the DG is a huge step up over onboard but the DX-XD is even more superior to the DG in terms of sound and features. the reason the DG is so cheap is because it is very basic in terms of features but it still sounds amazing. also the DG is 5.1 and the DX-XD is 7.1 if you use surround speakers

Currently looking at Sennheiser 360 + cheap soundcard.

I rock a Sennheiser PC 360. Best headset I have EVER owned...seriously. Even the mic, every bit as good as my snowball mic. But yeah, get a soundcard...and with this headset, the better the soundcard the better they'll sound. I use an X-fi titanium with it at the moment. Does the job, but I'm opting to pick up a Xonar Phobeus or even ASUS' highest end card soon. I will say...the xonar DG, while better than onboard...will "bottleneck" the 360s.
