System Images and a new hard drive

Thread Starter
Im having problems getting my system image onto a new hard drive

short story to get you guys caught up

hard drive went bad.
got a new hard drive.
ran the hard drive in another machine to format it to NTFS and gave it a drive letter of A
put the new hard drive into the computer
ran the system repair disc

now it will not recognize a drive. when i go into command prompt i try to reformat it to NTFS, (format X: /fs:NTFS) or something like that

it needs a drive label. what do i put there?

thanks,

Ninja

alright so I get

The system image restored failed.

No disk that can be used for recovering the system disk can be found.

so i go to cmd and type

format x: /fs:NTFS

it replies

the type of the file system is NTFS.
Enter current cilume label for drive X:

I press enter

it says: An incorrect volume label was entered for this drive.

now what?
