[iJailBreak Now] Apple Donates $2.5 Million To The American Red Cross In Hurricane Sandy Relief - Page 2

Perhaps this was brought about by scrutiny over the iTunes thing, but it is at least something. Kudos to you, Apple.

Huh, when the thread about the itunes button was made, it was said that the negative opinions were due to Apple not actually doing anything, but instead offering a method for others to do something. They should donate themselves, seemed to be the biggest complaint.

Now that they actually did donate, on the very first page we already have multiple comments about how their donation was less than Samsung, they should have donated more, and that they'd rather serve their own self interests than donate more. Not that double standards when it comes to Apple are anything new here, but it's still pretty crazy to think about how they are so strong that they are criticized for both not donating to hurricane relief, and then later donating to hurricane relief.

To stay on topic, it's good that Apple donated, and it's good that Samsung donated, as well as any other company that decided to. Not because the companies can flex their muscles and tell people that they did (although that may be good for the companies themselves), but because the money is hopefully being used to help people who were hit by a devastating storm.

I really think they are trying to save face here, after their stock plummeted and all. $2.5 million is a lot to you and I, but to a monster like Apple, it's absolutely nothing. I don't think Cook gives a damn about Sandy or it's aftermath. He's just trying not to look to bad to his customers and stockholders in front of Samsung. I'm on to you Cook. I see what you did there.

I'm not criticizing over their donation amount, but I do have a similar perspective. Funny that first they accept donations from their customers, and then, after Samsung donates $3 million, they decide to donate some of their own. Something tells me that if Samsung hadn't donated, they wouldn't have either. thinking.gif

Thank you Apple for donating money to a good cause, no matter your motives. The people of the North East couldn't care less *why* people/companies are donating money, they only care that they have access to food, water, shelter and the most basic of amenities to see them through these very hard times. And here you are, sitting in front of your giant computer screens (still!) ready to crucify a company that has done more for the cause than you ever *ever* could. Once again, the ends justify the means.

*sigh*

This probably has to do with the fact that an Apple fanboy was trolling the Samsung thread claiming that Samsung only donated 3 million to out-do Apple.

Only on OCN would people be critical of a much needed donation to a good cause. This community is becoming worse than Gizmodo.
