Is it possible to use 1 video card only for gaming and 1 video card only for Folding?

I have a pair of GTX 580's now, and I use them both for Folding and in Windows they are set up in SLI mode. I sometimes like to game (hey, who doesn't) and I was wondering if there was a way to "un-SLI" both cards and tell FAH to just use card 2 (I think I know how to do that), and tell Windows and all my games to just use card 1. That way I can game on one card at full speed (well, half now), and Fold on the other card without interrupting my gaming and give Folding 100% of the other card.

I'm 90% sure this can be done, but I'm wondering what the down sides are ... to folding mainly, since I know my game performance might take a hit.

You can turn off SLI in the nvidia control panel, but you shouldn't be in sli for folding anyways. As far as folding on 1 and gaming on the other, I haven't tried myself yet but I'm pretty sure you can.

I used to do that with my SLI GTX 580's all the time. All you have to do is undo SLI config in Nvidia control panel, figure out which is you primary card cause the game will use that one and then just pause the main card before gaming and let the other one fold. You should have no issues at all. You should be able to see 100% usage for your second card on your display if you have monitoring setup when your gaming.
