Seagate Barracuda 2TB ($99) or WD Caviar Black 1TB ($79)?

Thread Starter
I've been using a Seagate 320GB & Caviar Blue 500GB for over 3+ yrs with no problems and they're still ticking. I've been hearing bad stories about Seagate today and I've always been hesitant to buy another but MC sells the Seagate Barracuda 2TB 64mb cache for only $99 blinksmiley.gif

I had started to buy the Caviar Black 1TB 64mb cache for $79 but for $20 more, I can have twice more storage. Now this hd will be used for my games, music, & files. I have (3) questions:
  1. How reliable are Seagate hd's today compared to the past yrs?
  2. Is the Barracuda hd good to use for gaming?
  3. Is the Caviar Black's performance noticeably better than the Barracuda

thinking.gif Would be nice to know quickly...I'll be going to MC today to shop for a hd.
Thanks in advance biggrin.gif

BTW...Just for clarification, this is not about having more storage at the end of the day. 1TB is more than enough. I'm more interested in performance but only if there is a noticeable difference. Anybody?

That's easy enough, go for the Seagate Barracuda 2TB for $99, quality and performance are the same (you won't notice a thing anyway) as you might have the WD or the Seagate fail first and I use one for gaming with no issues.
