Can't boot windows with more than 800Mhz

Hello,

So i got 3 ram, each is 2GB and i can't run windows if i don't set cpu/ram ratio to 1:2 which is 800Mhz in bios, i tried bumping the ram voltage to 1.67V (no option for 1.65V) and it still doesn't work.

Here is my Cpu-Z info :

http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2576153

My mobo is an msi 785Gm-E51 and it supports up to 1600Mhz. And im trying to run all these ram at 1333 but can't get it working.

I got 2xCorsair CMV4GX3M2A1333C9 + 1xQimonda IMSH2GU13A1F1C-13H

Hope you guys can help me. If you need more info or screenshots, feel free to ask.

Thanks in advance.

Ps : sorry for my bad english, not native language biggrin.gif

take out the one ram stick that not corsair and try again. could be a stability issue also not a great idea to mix one brand with another.

Yeh indeed it was that, i removed the samsung ram and set frequency to 1333Mhz and it worked. Now is there a way to run windows with all 3 ram at 1333 frequency? Cause as i said i can run all in 800Mhz.

Thanks

Try setting your timings to 9-9-9-24 or raising your CPU-NB voltage a little bit (+.05-.075v)

Ok so i set 9-9-9-24 for DCT-0 and same for DCT-1 but now my CPU-NB voltage is set on AUTO, if i wanna raise it by a bit i must know whats the default voltage ??

So i managed to run it at 1333Mhz with the timings you gave me, but the voltage is set at 1.86 !!

And the corsair says to put 1.5v on their website......should i leave the voltage like this ?? Thanks.

depends, usually around 1.2v. Just go to CPU-NB voltage ,hit enter and change to manual, hit the "+" key it will raise it by one step. You are safe up to 1.45v on the CPU-NB,usually 1.25v-1.3v is enough for higher RAM speeds

Ok so i compared running memory at 800Mhz @ default voltage (set on auto, i guess 1.5v) and 1333Mhz @ 1.86V and there is a difference in Read + Copy speed. About 1500mb/s difference, even latency was 5ns lower.

Now all i need to know, is if 1.86V is safe for my ram or no ??

Also there is a bit difference between real cpu voltage and the cpu voltage set in bios (about 0.2V) and i wonder if its nto same for ram. Isn't there a way to check whats current Ram voltage ??

Thanks

You're attempting to run 3 DIMMs.  You need to make sure your RAM kits have the same speed, timings and voltage for ideal compatibility. For more than 2 DIMMs, you need to commit to appropriate increases to CPU-NB voltage. Try getting your settings to work with just the corsair 2x2GB kit.  If this is instability and you seriously need 1.86V for generic 1333 CL9 memory, you need to stop and RMA your kits. Generic memory should never require more than the 1.5V JEDEC spec for DDR3. Aside from that, regardless of rated spec or IC, I don't recommend that you ever push more than 1.7V when clocking DDR3 anyway (unless you have Micron D9s or HCF0s or high-voltage stuff from the past).

Moreover I'd be concerned about the pairing of overclocked 125W quad with low-end MSI 4+1 phase... you should replace that board or face risk of explosion

Ok i finally gave up about the idea of running ram at 1333Mhz, now its running at 800Mhz with 1.5V, i'll keep it like that then, never mind.

Can you explain me why i should change my motherboard, i don't get why ? Because my CPU is compatible with this mobo.

Thanks
