It has less to do with compatibility and more to do with design and failure-prone record that should override compatibility in low end MSI AM3 boards. You should read about it in "About VRMs & MOSFETs". Make sure to check the documented list of VRM failures.... you'll notice an interesting trend with low end MSI boards on AM3/+ socket.
I do not trust them with 125W TDP quad and hexa core processors, even at stock.
Thankfully the common issue may begin to disappear as designs improve on FM2.
