I wouldn't call it an "insane deal." It's a run-of-the-mill SandForce 2 drive with crappy async NAND. Oh, and they decided to skip the overprovisioning that all the other tried-and-true SF2 drives use.

Yeh this is MLC keep your eyes open especially with the holidays coming up. I could def see some deals rolling out. Make sure you get a drive that uses SLC I have a 240GB Agility 3 I got it for a good deal but even at less than half the price of the SLC model I wonder if I screwed myself over.

I think you are mixing up the terms SLC and MLC with Toggle/Synchronous and Asynchronous...

I wouldn't buy it given that the much better Samsung 830 has been available for the same price a few times over the past month.

Yeah...
SLC is several magnitudes more expensive and only used in super high end consumer and some enterprise SSDs. (also it's only sold up to like 32GB)

In the past two weeks, there were two sales on 830's. One for $150, and one for $160.

A quick search on the Adata said the latest firmware broke TRIM functionality, which is a pretty big issue.

Not sure if serious. I'll assume you are just misinformed.

1. Toggle NAND is much better than asynchronous NAND. Samsung's controller is much better than the SF2, which performs poorly on incompressible data and has a long history of firmware problems. On Tom's Hardware's SSD Hierarchy Chart, the 830 is two performance tiers above "240 GB second-gen SandForce SSDs with Async ONFi NAND"

2. Yes, it has. NCIX had it for $150 on 11/1 (link). Microcenter had it for $150 on 10/26 (link). Beach Camera had if for $150 on 10/21 (link).

Finally, what is ADATA's reputation and reliability track record in the SSD market? Oh, that's right, they don't have either.
