16 gigs G.Skill ARES 1600mhz
PC 7950 OC 880
Corsair HX 750 psu
H60 cooler
Win 7 64
12.11 beta 6 drivers for ATI

I get bad lower 30 fps in very intense battles but usually FPS ranges from 50 to over 100. Any help please.

Lower the game video settings and watch your ping.

You are using the best drivers for ATI at the moment. But if you would ask me, the reason you are lagging in a sever with high player count is because your CPU cannot keep up. I would suggest you overclock it more or turn down the settings to High instead of Ultra.

hmm i see your problem ....

AMD and ATI LOLOLOL u gotta fix that lol

but seriously lol , check the drivers and , maybe shut down the MSAA or what ever the option is , and use a FXAA injector smile.gif it helps

Sigh... I just built this PC and everyone said the FX4170 is a good chip. I think i might have to upgrade to the new 8370 or something. I guess my chip is holding me back. I dont know how to OC and really is 4.2 to 4.6ghz really going to make much of a difference?

Who told you that an FX Chip was good for gaming? No offense but FX chips operate very poorly for gaming. If you want a good gaming chip you would need to go to the Intel side of things. From what I hear the new 8370 Chips are getting close to 2500k speeds if I recall correctly so you could go that route. And for the overclock to make a difference on the FX series of chips you would need to overclock to 5 GHz and above.

This is a lie my friend.
You mix all FX CPU -s into one bowl it seems.

FX cpu are good enough for gaming.

Take a look here -> http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/medal-of-honor-warfighter-performance-benchmark,3336-7.html

The FX 8350 owns in Frostbyte 2 and the CPU the OP has does well enough

The lag in this case can be due to overheating of the video card.IF we are talking about seeing the other players later than we should ,like when you see them you re dead already.

If the other guy takes no hits - doesnt register , then it must be the network lag.

I am using 12.1 Catalyst with my unocked 6950 ,the best driver i ve used under W7 x 64 bit.

I am tired seeing all this kids talking about the gaming capabilities of Intel CPU-s when we all know that from 1920 X 1080 almost any modern CPU is able to sustein high FPS.Yes maybe some crappy strategy game from 2004 may bot take advantage of the multicore ,but who cares.

I would lock the CPU to maximum clock via BIOS ,Disable C1 ,APM and CnQ and turbo core and run along BF 3 MSI Afterburner overlay to see what FPS you got there and report them here.

Thank you so much. I run other games fine, i just bought the new CS:GO runs mint! everything max. My temps are fine, load never goes beyond high 30 to 40c. I will go stock cpu and turn all that other crap off. I hate how much trolling AMD is going on. I love this setup, just i know the new 8350 etc are way better.

Thanks

That is a poorly chosen benchmark to say FX is better. The SB Pentium clocked 1GHz slower is only 4 fps behind, and an old Athlon X2 is not much farther either..

Anyways @ OP. The reality of it is, Intel is better for gaming at this time. However, upgrading to the 8320 will most likely solve your problems. Piledriver IPC is roughly on par with Phenom II unlike BD which was actually slower, and obviously PD's can clock higher than Phenom II so they are currently the best chips to get on AMD side of things. thumb.gif

Before you go buy a new CPU though make sure your network connection is in good shape. If your ping is off the charts then it could just be network lag like mentioned above.

I'm not sure who told you the FX 4170 was a good choice for gaming, but they are very wrong.
