BSOD on install of 2x4gb samsung green to msi gd53 replacing 2x2gb vengeance c8

post #1 of 11
Thread Starter
Replaced my 1600c8 corsair vengeance 2 x 2gb with the above. I have not been able to get into windows since even on stock memory settings with a cmos reset. Cant get my head round it. It will get so far and then BSOD.

boot deivce is win7 64 ultimate on 128gb sammy 830 ssd,

@No previous problems booting up.

Bios is 1D.

This is now very old in terms of this mobo. Should I change. Any one with direct experience of this memory and board combo a bit of help would be most appreciated as currently I cant get into windows after an hour of trial and error reboots and a system restore.

Stock settings as in 11-11-11-28 1600MHz @ 1.35v?

Try running Memtest86+ in case the memory is defective. Might want to try updating your BIOS to something more current. The latest for your board is v4.2.

That would be a bit strange for them to remove support for Sandy Bridge if they did that. blinksmiley.gif

I just ran memtest with one stick and two sticks in both cases on the 2nd/3rd test heaps of red errors scrolled through. Have never seen this amount of errors. The detected settings were 11-11-11-28-1t 1600mhz

FWIW I am going to try a clean OS install to my SSD since I only got that recently and haven't really got that much to lose from my boot drive. If that fails then I will RMA i think
