Router/Modem Issue?

Hey guys..

For some reason, my internet has been acting up. I really have no clue why. The weather here has been sunny with no high winds so I know that weather isn't the issue.

Could it be that my router and modem are really old? I have the Netgear WPN824v2 and some generic modem from Comcast that were bought about six years ago. No one is downloading anything either.

What could the problem be? For years we have had the modem and router in the basement since my dad does his paperwork there. Then we have a laptop on the first floor, and then my computer on the second. If I need to post any additional info please ask. I have 0% knowledge when it comes to modems/routers.

It just has been very slow. I have to watch a video on YouTube in 240p. I can't even play games on Steam because it's that slow. I really don't understand how it suddenly just changed..

Have you tried bypassing the router entirely and going modem direct to PC? That would be my first step to narrow down the cause.
