Need Advice for Overall System AirFlow

Thread Starter
Will this setup work well for my system?
Intake:
2x120mm (front of case)
2x120mm (h100i fans mounted at top of case)

Exhaust
1x120mm (rear stock)
1x200mm (side panel)
1xEVGAGTX670 (rear stock)

My system is in my sig - 1st Build

I'm skeptical about the 200mm exhausting air. Should I just have that intake air so that my GPU gets fresh air? 5 intakes and 1 exhaust sounds pretty crazy though. Talk about positive pressure eh? Maybe that's not a bad thing though. Any recommendations?

I could make the H100i exhaust and then make the 200mm intake but then I worry that my H100i radiator would have hot air blowing across it... thats no good redface.gif

EDIT: Just did some research and found out what Push/Pull is all about. On the H100i The rear 120mm exhausts and the front 120mm intakes. I like the sound of that.
2x120mm exhausts
3x120mm intakes + 1x200mm intake.

Whatcha say? Yay or nay?

front and side are intake and top and rear are exhaust. you definitely dont want to have the side be exhaust since your graphics card wont have enough cool air. and yes that would work in your case

Okay 200mm will be intake.

So I have
Intake:
2x120mm (front)
1x200mm (side)

Exhaust:
1x120mm (rear)

I'm left with the H100i. I have lots of options...
Both push exhaust
Both pull exhaust
1 push exhaust 1 pull intake
1 pull exhaust 1 push intake

Which one? redface.gif

I'm thinking 1 pull exhaust and 1 push intake right now. Would that be my best option or am I just going to have to test it out myself when I build my rig?

Thanks for the help!

i would not recommend that. do push pull as exhaust and you'll be fine and still have great cooling performance

Okay so radiator on top and fans beneath it? Back fan will push exhaust and front fan will pull in? Sounds good to me. Is it bad to have the fans on top and the radiator beneath? (ie pull push exhaust) Does it make a difference?

Thanks for the help man.

I have a very similar cooling setup. I used the top fans for the exhaust on my h100, because hot air already naturaly rises, also a top intake would attract alot of dust. Better to blow off settling dust then to suck it up.

well you said you were going push pull right? so there would be fans on either side of the rad

Yeah I thought about just doing exhaust for the H100 but will it be sucking up hot air? Maybe not since I have ample intakes (2x120mm and 1x200mm)? Do you have your fans setup to pull or push the exhaust air?

Oh wait a minute... I must be confused about what push pull is. I originally thought it meant you had 4 total fans on the radiator (2 pushing and 2 pulling) but then I read something somewhere that made me think it meant you have 2 fans total, 1 fan pushing air out and 1 pulling in? Would it be retarded to have 1 fan pushing and the other pulling if I have only have 2 fans? I could buy 2 more fans to achieve this push pull setup but is there enough room in the top of my 500r to fit 4 120mm fans AND a radiator?? Its big but I didn't realize it was that big... I don't want to have to mount fans outside my case so if thats required to go push/pull then I don't want to do that.

EDIT: According to this review http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/46543-corsair-hydro-series-h100-liquid-cpu-cooler-review-8.html
going push pull won't be worth it for me because I only plan to mildly overclock.

So now I need to decide if I want to push exhaust or pull exhaust. I'll be using the stock corsair fans at first.

EDIT2: I read that if the fans are 1500+ RPM's I should have them pushing on the radiator. The H100i fans are 2700RPM so I am thinking I will just put the fans on the bottom and push exhaust up through the radiator out of the case. Opinions?

if you're not really overclocking that heavily 2 fans pushing air out of the case is your best option
