Small laptop (under 14") for work and some games under $750

I'm looking into the thinkpad x131e, am I am not certain whether the AMD Fusion E-300 is powerful enough. I'm not sure whether to chose the intel or the amd cpu option. Is it worth getting an ssd with this? I'm a cs major and often have lots of OSes installed and virtual machines running. My current laptop the asus u81a ran everything just fine but it broke. I only play games(tf2) from time to time so its not a requirement. Are there any other light laptops on par with the x131e?

The E-300 and Other Series arent powerful , they may do web browsing and HD , a few Games fine , but Why not just Go intel Like an i5 with an HD4000 , you would be able to play TF2. and would be better than the E-300.

The E300 is not good enough.

E and C series are pretty lackluster. Look for A series

If you dont want a discrete GPU AMD is the way to go.

An i3 plus discrete GPU may be preferable

Not sure how light it is, but Asus recently released the G46VW, which is a 14" laptop that packs a GTX 660M.

no, this is not the laptop for you
only 14.0" and lower?
you have the dell E5430 now on sale - it is cheaper now and you get 100$ gift card (you can sell it..)
with 900p screen and I5-3210M you get some basic gaming performance and a better than average screen

I do recommend that you consider 15.6" options

Forget the gaming then, I dont want the gpu to eat my battery. Is the i3 intel better than the amd option? Are there any other better 11" laptops?

The x230 looks like a viable option.
