If i was going to spend that kinda money on a CPU, i would spend a lil more on the board too. What features do you need/want on the board?

I'd go with the MSI. MSI's ClickBIOS IMO is much better than ASRock's, MSI's motherboard PCB is pure matte black (no brown impurities), no legacy PCI slots (begone with them!), and the heatsinks IMO are much better looking and are fanless (the fan can get quite loud under load). The only drawback I see with the MSI motherboard is that its back I/O is not as plentiful as ASRock's.

The EVGA X79 FTW is obtainable at the same price after rebate, I'd really consider that.

Kindof disappointed with the X79 FTW, it has only 4X memory slots. Some say that's because it's cheaply built, though check out reviews and see for yourself.

I'm pretty much just looking for something with 8 dimm slots and a decent amount PCI-E slots for a decent price my budget for everything minus the cpu, hard drive, graphics and dvd drive is about $550.

ASUS P9X79 LE LGA 2011 I've use this board my self and I'm very happy with purchase. It's overclocks with easy 4.6Ghz -4.8Ghz, solid and stable board without unnecessary features.

I'd go with GIGABYTE GA-X79-UP4, great performance, USB 3.0, 4-way SLI/CFX support, 10 Sata Ports, ESata, Etc.
