Actually I suspect it's an issue with the fan's compatibility with fan controllers, not with the controller itself, like with the Corsair series fans.
Also just like the well know issue with NZXT' fan controllers which is why i said i bet its the controller....because thats what it is

The fan is fine, the controller is not.
The problem is the method NZXT use to control the fans, their controllers are NOT compatible with all fans and until recent they even had a sticky thread detailing all "compatible" fans, this thread was on their own forum but now has mysteriously disappeared as if they have gone into denial about this fault/problem and deleted the evidence, what i say about this sticky thread and the fault was taken down but is still cached in google search engine so reference to this can still be found upon a simple google search
Q:
My NZXT Sentry 2 is causing my fan(s) to produce a rattle noice. What is currently the problem?
A: This is a due to a compatibility issue. The following link will lead to a forum thread that will list some fans that have these conflict.
http://www.nzxt.com/forum/showthread.php?7796-Sentry-2-Fan-List-%28Strange-Noise%29
Upon following link to thread you now get told "No Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the administrator"
How convinient, they pulled the thread

Precisely, i just had to RMA mine too because of this design fault/flaw.
I had to pay to return this item and it cost me 33% of the controllers RRP, this cost should not have been paid by myself as this is due to a desing flaw that is WELL know and previously admitted by NZXT themselves.
Had this been an item simply failing or breaking then its a straight forward RMA and i know i am obliged to cover cost of returning....but this was due to design fault, the fan controllers should really have been recalled imo but hey...they chugged on without giving a damn and continue to churn out the same crap, least they could have done was paid postage
