[MAX PC] Nvidia Posts Record Revenue on Strength of Kepler - Page 2

I'm at that point in my gaming career that I see no need to OC anymore. I max out all my games at 1440p and get 60 FPS constantly. redface.gif

OT: Well I'm glad they're doing good. smile.gif I want 5xx series overclocking back though!
hmm..........

AMD seemed very confident about their price cuts, but doesn't seem to have done them any good frown.gif

I'll bite. Granted the stock to stock performance favors Nvidia, but now price heavily favors AMD. So why aren't we seeing a massive shift over to red?

lol @ the fanbois...

it's just nice to see nvidia getting some positive news. im sure the need it after a few blunders over the years.

i am a little depressed over the whole locked voltage but feel there isn't a game out there my current card can't handle maxed out. i will never buy am amd card but am glad they push nvidia to keep up and on their toes.

Let me get this straight.

NVIDIA hasn't been in such a bad position performance-wise in 6 years, yet they post record revenue?

What?

What?
I dont see the 600's being in necessarily a "bad" position on the performance front, at all. They only loose by like a complete average of 4-6%, which is arguably nothing. Especially for those of us who own are cards now, the price drops do not effect us. That being said, its like the 3770k beating the 3570k some % in games, does that mean the 3570k is bad? No. They both still play games fine, and very equally to each other, if not exactly.

I used the word "such" for a reason. Last generation they were in second place was when ATI dropped the 1900XT. For five generations they held the performance lead, though at the expense of using gigantic 550mm^2 dies with massive power consumption and heat issues. Now once again you see them slipping behind, with the 7970 performing over 20% faster per clock (I repeat: PER CLOCK) than the GTX 680 with Catalyst 12.11. In comparison to their previous generations, they are doing bad on the performance front. Does that mean they're putting out bad cards? Not necessarily.

Sadly, the average joe will keep buying green, underperforming, or not; much the same way people did when Intel was getting bent over by AMD years ago. Perception/reputation goes a long way in the consumer world.

poor amd frown.gif offers solid product, still deemed inferior. but that's the nature of the business, the best one always wins.
