Cpu boot trouble

Thread Starter
So I recently bought a new case for my comp. But when o switched it over now at the boot menu it says new CPU has been installed update cmos. In the past few months I did upgrade my CPU so this is why its strange because my bios is updated.

Any help or info would be great

Pull out the CMOS battery, unplug the system, and hold down the power button afterwards to ensure all power has been removed from the system.

See if it boots up then.

Swapping to the new case may have bumped something or is causing a grounding issue. If doing the above doesn't fix it, make sure there isn't a short.

that dosen't sound like a grounding issue. if it was a grounding issue pc wouldn't boot at all or there would some fried components. i would do what that guy said to and reset cmos and configure your bios. also it would help to know what your pc specs are so we can help you further. i would also make sure all jumper settings are right and if there are switchs on your motherboard make sure their in the right position. i would also make sure all power connectors are seated right.

OK and how would I go about resetting the cmos. And what do.I have to configure in the bios. Because I recently updates my CPU to an amd Phenom 2 x4 945.

remove all power cables from the motherboard remove cmos battery ( becarful doing this as it is easy to bend the clip wrong ) wait 4 to 5 minutes press and hold the power switch for 10 seconds. Then reconnect all the cables to your motherboard put cmos battery back in. Boot the pc go into bios and set the settings to default settings ( it might say load default settings). That should fix your problem. If not we'll go from there.
