I need a laptop for school. I have three major requirements. 1. it must be durable. when I drop it (which I will) It won't break. if it breaks my information will be safe, it needs to take some abuse. 2. The laptop must be cheap, 600$ max. If it breaks I wont empty my bank replacing it. 3. it needs to be quick and light. I wont be using it for much more than working on word documents, email, and social / research activities. I want a good boot time.
The laptop doesn't need good battery life (3-4 hours if fine) My school has tones of places I can plug it in. It will mostly be running chrome and word.
So far I am leaning towards buying a (off-lease) Lenovo Thinkpad R400 for 350 from tiger direct, slapping a 64gb - 120gb ssd in it and running window 7 home premium.
I would like some input since I have never bought a laptop before (except a mac (not a real laptop), big mistake
).
Thanks for any input
