Corsair Carbide Series 200R Mid-Tower Case

Hi guys,

My Corsair Carbide Series 200R arrived the other day and I've just finished putting the review together. For a sub £50 case I think it's worth every penny, hope your views are the same.

Let me know what you think?

INTRODUCTION
Corsair pride themselves when it comes to quality, that’s why when they launched the reasonably priced Carbide series they wanted to make sure that they kept some of the design traits of the high-end enclosures such as the Obsidian line.

Every new Carbide chassis which has been released so far we’ve seen a steady drop in price, with the 500R priced at around the £100 mark, down to the 300R at £75. So it was only fitting when Corsair announced the 200R that it will slot straight into the sub £50 barrier.

Now you’re probably thinking you’re not going to get that much for £50 but Corsair have gone all out and brought a mid-tower chassis with Corsair quality and features.

Corsair has made a smart move when it comes to the top fan mounts. If you look closely enough you’ll notice that you can install both 120mm and 140mm fans, with the 120mm mounting holes position more to the left allowing for installing a radiator.

INSTALLATION
When it came to installing components I was amazed by the amount of room within the 200R, it’s like Doctor Who’s Tardis!! Just to put through a thorough mid-tower test I installed the GS800 PSU which is non-modular, and has every cable attached to it you could think of. The ATX motherboard looked tiny and at one point I thought I was working inside a full-tower enclosure.

Thanks for this nice review.

I'm a 300R owner and I've impressed with the build quality by the Corsair cases.

The 200R comes with a bottom fan mount location.
The 300R is bigger and doesn't have a bottom fan mount location.
There's other nice cases about the same dimensions of the 300R and also have a bottom fan mount.

My only cons about the 200R is the clearance for the air coolers.
According to the Corsair specifications, the case supports CPU coolers up to 160mm of height.

My current heatsink is the Hyper 212 (159mm of heigth).
