Ok then I guess GTX480 makes sense.

The value on those GTX 480s is pretty good.
Actually 2 of them will annihilate a regular GTX 660.
Even single card comparisons the GTX 660 is not that much faster than a GTX 480 probably 5-10%.
When both are max oc'ed the difference might be even lower considering GTX 480s OC higher on average.

But If you search well you can easily find 7950s at 275-285 euros.

http://www.amazon.de/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85Z%C3%95%C3%91&url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=HD+7950&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3AHD+7950
(sorry if the location is wrong)

It might be slightly slower than dual 480s but it won't draw as much power and won't have SLI/ CF issues.

I was asking because I see alot of GTX660 near the same price as GTX480's. I was thinking he should consider SLI GTX660 instead of SLI GTX480.

Honestly you would be better off getting a 7950. Overclocked the 7950 is up there with pre OCed GTX680's, A 7950 @ 1200mhz can easily take on a 680 at the same clock speeds and come out on top on a majority of games. Something to consider.

Stock the GTX480's are not the most impressive cards, like the rest of the GF100 chips they do their best at 800-900mhz. 800mhz on a stock cooler is gonna kick out some serious heat. Your room is gonna get hot even in the winter no getting around that with those cards. Plus the GTX480 will only give you 1.5GB of v-ram to use, which to be honest can get limiting even at 1080p. A pair of GTX480's @ 800mhz can't be beat by any single GPU at the moment, but a 7950 @ 1200mhz won't be that far away in terms of GPU power and the cost is similar. So unless you have plans to water cool and Overclock the crap out of the GTX480's then they would be the wrong card to get. Get a fast single card or wait for the 8970 to come out like me and pick that up. A single 8970 when they come out should be faster then two heavily OCed 480's no problem.

agreed . Price performance and raw performance are both with HD 7950. HD 7950 overclocks very well and at 1.2 Ghz is on par with GTX 680 (1.3 Ghz). HD 7950(1.2 Ghz) will be only slightly behind GTX 480 SLI at 800 Mhz. But remember running GTX 480s at 800 Mhz in SLI is going to put out a serious amount of heat. It just does not make sense when you can get a smoother and more consistent single GPU experience with the HD 7950. thumb.gif

I think i'll look for a 7950 IF I can't get a 670 for ~235 used from America (I'm not sure if I have to pay any extra fees when i'm not purchasing from a ship)
Sounds like those are pretty damn good, though i've never really overclocked a GPU before, do you just raise the core speedby increments, and then raise the mem speed by increments? (and if you then hit the max, raise the voltage?)

and the 7950 may be slightly behind on the 480's, it's only one card and like rjmana said, I can always get another one later on.

And DzillaXx, I can wait but then those cards are going to cost a lot again, which is also the reason I was looking at those 480's because they seem to be really beast, and cost less than a 680.

EDIT::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Actually now that I think about it, should I go for the 670 for about 235 (without shipping fees), instead of a HD7950 for about ~280/~290? (Euros smile.gif)

Absolutely ... that is a great card at that price.
That price is about the price of a 7870 ... the only difference is the GTX 670 going to destroy it.
So if you can get it, it is awesome ! smile.gif

Ah screw this stupid import fee, I thought if you had a "friend" sent over something from the US as a gift, I wouldn't have to pay any extra fees, but I will (if the price is higher than 150 euro.), so the only other way I can see this happening is if the guy says the price is like 125 euro or something, but then if the customs (I think it's called that, the guys that inspect package that gets sent internationaly.) pick it out and inspect it, and estimate the value higher than 150 euro, I think the seller and I are in trouble..

Grr stupid *****..

Ohwell let's do some more research.

EDIT:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Ugh, after doing some math, i'll end up having to pay about 340 euro just to get a card (which is priced 235 euro by it's current owner) to me...

Damn taxes.

Guess i'll have to look for a HD7950 again hehe.

Thanks anyway guys, your opinions were very useful.

EDIT2::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Aren't AMD drivers pretty bad?, Will they give any issues when trying to SLI 7950 (if I eventualy purchase another one, if I have one)

No AMD drivers are not bad. Nvidia fan boys blast that type of garbage over the place to make their purchases of lower performance parts at a higher cost worth while. AMD drivers are fine and CF scales better then SLI. So its win win. Now you just need a 120hz monitor to blow you away in smoothness.

That's what I thought, I used to have a HD4870 and never had any problems with it (driver nor performance).
But that was a while ago so I didn't know what it was like now a days..

Thanks man, i'll definitely be looking at a HD7950.
