my laptop cannibalization project

I am an unlucky owner of a G53SW-XN1 asus laptop. I bought the laptop right before I deployed to afganistan for that purpose. I also bought an aftermarket newegg warranty. Okay, that being said,i was pretty stoked at first about my fancy new laptop. The internal connector where the power plug goes into broke about a month in. Anyway, this was an absolute nightmare. We were so busy I coudlnt get the time to actualy mail this out to my wife to send it to asus for a couple months. So I am without a working machine that i depend on heavily for a good while. Anyway, so I get the laptop back to asus and they simply say they wont cover it because it was in a war zone. Great. My wife sends me HER laptop in the mean time and we wait for the facotry warranty to expire so she can send it to newegg via their warranty. Somwhere along the line they also broke its motherboard and then said (after holding onto it for a couple months) that the newegg warranty doesnt cover it becuase it happened during the factory warranty period. Discontinued product huh? fantastic.

Anyway! so now I just said whatever, I took it all apart and removed a stick of 4gb pc3-10600s-9-10-f2 ram and a 2gb stick also, as well as its internal seagate hard drive.

I am wondering if id be able to put both those sticks of ram and this hdd into my other asus laptop a53e

oh...and what if i put my i7 cpu into it also, assuming its not fried.

any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

It really depends on what other asus laptop you have but yeah you should be able to put them in.

there should be some screws at the bottom of your laptop which should expose them RAM and the HDD.
As for the i7 I really depends on what your other asus laptop is e.g if it is a third second gen i series or a c2c/q

the laptop id like to upgrade is a: "a53e-nh51" but i am looking all over to find its max ram supported or to see if it supports another hd but im hard pressed to find anything on it,even on the asus website!

i guess option B would be to simply put its hdd in my desktop. (is that possible? do they use regular sata like ssds?)

i really do want to throw the ram in the other laptop though.

Yes the 2.5" SATA drive connects just like a 3.5".

Last night I installed the 2.5 laptop hdd into my desktop computer and tried to boot. windows 8 immediately said attempting system repair. this went on for an hour so then i tried plugging it into a different sata port hoping it would simply only try to boot from my ssd and let me view the other hd in windows like i wanted, but it went to the same screen again. i left it on that screen all night to see if it would work,it didnt though.

the laptop hard drive did have win7 installed on it btw. and it does have some stuff on there id like to be able to save. but if thats not an option i still want a working hardrive if possible.

any ideas?
