that it would, would bring budget gaming up another notch (imagine a perfect world where an APU would be strong enough to not bottleneck, and AMD implements a new engine to utilize the apu for gpu based calculation for gaming similar to physx i wish). advancements with HSA and the IGPU can really be interesting for the next couple of years to come.

right now APU's can handle a good share of video cards without bottlenecking (depending on the bottleneck variety) as for the Physx i don't know about that, it would be helpful if AMD made something similiar to it. if HSA becomes a success then it'll really boost AMD in thier APU giving them solid performance biggrin.gif

This may foil my plans for going w/ an FM2/AM3+ build. If they're going to sit idle for all of 2013 and no release new chipsets/chips I will be pretty disappointed. I'm wanting AMD to release a chipset w/ PCI-E 3.0 already!

is it to do with xbox 720 and ps4 using the trinity chip? presumably they want to focus production in the 10's of millions on this chip. this will float them for years let alone 1 year, by which point they have had time to make a proper upgrade from trinity and supply a new FM3 board with quad channel ram and HSA ?

If their shares do drop - I'll put christmas funds into buying up some stock. AMD has a history of swinging up and down with their stock prices. Would be a good time to buy if one is willing to hold onto their stock for a few years. (and by shares, I'm thinking 50-100 at most... I'd love to get say 1000 shares or something, but for me it's not financially viable.)

Hopefully concerning the thread topic - It will mean that what they release in 2014 is better than anything rushed in 2013. It could also be that they're changing the date as a precautionary measure, and if they can release early it'll help them look better.

Notice how it says "Radeon Cores 2.0"? That's what they call the stream processors in Trinity.

Looks like I'll be waiting another year for a mini-ITX HTPC (Really want GCN) sleepysmileyanim.gif

Does this mean Vishera will be the last architecture fully compatible with AM3+?

If so I might just snatch up an FX-8350 to replace the ol' 955, does it seem like a worthwhile upgrade?
