Suspicious Ads.

Thread Starter
  • What happened?

Not really the biggest problem. Usually I see the products Ads (AMD, CoolerMaster etc) which are fine, but once in a while I see a wierd Ad like this. I doubt OCN is putting up this.

  • Are you able to reproduce this problem consistently?
No. Not everytime I go on OCN.
But over a period of week I can see it consistently.
  • What steps did you take to reproduce this problem?
    browse randomly through the site.
  • What action did you expect to occur when this bug appeared?

  • Any additional information that will help us diagnose the issue:
Probably ads are location based, but I don't see these kinds of ads on any other website.
I've seen this from home & my work pc as well.
  • Browser, active browser addons, and operating system:
    Chrome

  • URL where the issue occurs:
    http://www.overclock.net/forum/newposts/filter/participated

This is where I last saw it, But I see it just about anywhere.

adblock is the best add on ever.

but thats beside the point. is OCN hosting this (and then why?) and if not then where is it coming from?

disabled adblock and browsed around for maybe 1 in total over the last 6 hours. most likely at least 60 or more pages in total, couldn't reproduce

We do depend on ad revenues to operate, so we encourage you to not use AdBlock or any of the other similar plugins available if at all avoidable. If you'd like an ad-free experience on the site, an Overclocked account subscription gives you the option to disable advertisements while still supporting the community (along with some other perks).

With that aside, though, on occasions where we see an ad like this come in from one of our ad networks that shouldn't be running on the site for whatever reason, please right-click it and copy the link location (or whatever your browser's equivalent is) to post here. We can and will block advertisements like this one from the rotation, but require the information in the ad's URL to do anything about it.

Thanks!

While we're on the subject, Chipp, what is your feeling on averts that start playing sound automatically? I bet most of the community hates them and having to press mute twice on one page to stop a really annoying advert is quite irritating.

Thanks

We dislike them as much as you do - if you can grab URLs, we'll absolutely get rid of them.
