Preferably ones that display black correctly and have the least ghosting. What do you guys recommend?

I agree, a good 120Hz monitor is definitely worth it. I would recommend the BenQ XL2420T : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824014270.

It is amazing, and I really notice the difference between 60Hz and 120Hz. It is still worth it as an investment monitor even if you are not planning on playing in 3D. biggrin.gif

Check neweggs open box stuff you can find some really great deals there http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007617%204809&IsNodeId=1&name=Open%20Box

that being said I'm gonna kinda contradict myself here

at that price point you might wanna hit a B&M store and brows through the selection, ask to see monitors on and running programs, that might be best at this price point.

I went to a bunch of stores tonight. Ended up buying a Dell ST2421L for $183.59. It was on display and it looked good. I couldn't really do much testing because it didn't have a mouse or keyboard attached to the computer it was plugged into.

It's a slight improvement over the two LG EB2442T-BNs I (foolishly) bought from NewEgg last week, in terms of brightness and contrast. Black still looks washed out and there is still noticeable ghosting. I've been researching monitors online all day. I'm starting to think all LCD LED monitors have this terrible ghosting, and that people just don't notice it or care. I will be returning this Dell monitor tomorrow, and my two LGs Monday.

I looked at a lot of ASUS monitors, but the reviews were really mixed (I don't count dead pixel or DOA reviews). I just want a 24" monitor that's like my trusty LG W2253TQ-PF; one that doesn't display black as a washed out mess and one that has minimal ghosting. It doesn't have to be 3D either.

Colours, even once calibrated, are not really good. But honestly, it is probably the best 120hz 'gaming' panel out there.

Wait for monoprice to launch their IPS panel imo
