Help me choose a good Z77 board for my system :)

I am building a new system and I have all my components chosen except for a motherboard... so many choices, hopefully we can narrow it down.

The system is meant for gaming (BF3, Planetside 2, etc.), web browsing/work, word docs, etc.. Hoping to make this board future proof but not overkill, max budget for the mobo is $200.

Here is the guts of my build:
Intel 3570K Ivy (I plan to overclock it)
Corsair Vengeance 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3 1600MHz CL9 1.5V
2x Powercolor 7950 3GB
2x OCZ Vertex 4 128gb in raid 0
OCZ ZS750 PSU
Asus Xonar DX
Cooler Master 690 RC-690-KKN1 Case (7 slot)

Hey buddy

I have a Asus Sabertooth Z77 and it is a very good motherboard IMO.

You just wont be able to install one of the turbo fans since you have a sound card, but this won't be a problem.

Look into it.

Also truth be told, most z77 motherboards will make you very happy.

Also what is your budget?

Does color scheme or manufaturer matter?

I would go with this... Hearing very good things about this board from users & reviewers...

GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UP4

Asrock Z77 Extreme 4, I'd still buy it even if it cost $200.

+1 on the ASUS Sabertooth. Very sturdy and nice board. Along with functionality, the TUF 'armor' makes your rig looks really clean and sexy too biggrin.gif

Thanks for the ideas, my budget is $200 max. Like I said I don't want something that is overkill.

What is the difference between the ASRock Extreme 4 and Extreme 6? The specs look near identical (except 2 vs 3 pcie) but the price speaks differently. How is the Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H. The price is right and I like Gigabyte for their quality and 3 year warranty vs the ASrock 1 year. Any input on these would be great.

Thanks.

Thanks.

That Gigabyte D3H is a solid board (only 1 3.0 slot) and the one mentioned above. The one mentioned above has a lot more features including Thunderbolt and 3 PCI-E slots.

I would get the GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UP4 as it provides more options for upgrading. It has a host of those options that make the board run/clock CPU's better.

If you ever want to run more than one card, you'll have to run them in PCI-E 2.0 with the board you mentioned.

Update, I ended up purchasing the ASRock Extreme 4 on sale for $115 and paired it with a 3770K. So far very happy with their performance smile.gif
