Golden 3930K Need Tweaking Advice! @ 5Ghz currently!

Hi guys!

Okay well I'm running a 3930K in RIVE with 64GB Corsair Vengeance kit, and I was able to boot to windows at like 1.4 ish volts. Ran Intel burn test crashed my computer I upped the volts more and more still crashing.. Then I noticed the VCSSA volts at .87 lawl with 64gb ram = yeah memory controller stressed. I upped it to 1.2 and so far it's not crashing anymore.


I'm using LLC Medium 1.45 Volts In bios and under load it drops to around 1.416 however how can I get that 1.416 range always without using LLC? without LLC it hovers around 1.432.


What settings would allow me to hover around the 1.416 range under load not dip below without LLC?




Temps never went above 70C on all cores hovering around 67-68C (Ruining custom loop)

A few things to note:
You cannot even come close to maintaining a constant voltage without LLC. That is what it is there for.
Even with LLC you will not be able to maintain a constant voltage.
You should be using Prime95 for stress testing. IBT doesn't pick up anything but the most unstable overclocks on current CPUs. You should run it for at least a good 12 hours (p95).

Why not try and use an offset voltage? That would mean that the voltage would change with load. This means that at idle clocks, you would see something like 1v or so, then under load you would ramp up to 1.416v. I assume this is what you want? A lower idle voltage?

EDIT: Also, you should ALWAYS stress test with as much RAM as possible, whether it be P95 or IBT, that being, in your case, around 62GB. And I just noticed you only tested with IBT for around 2 minutes.

I would be willing to bet that if you did a longer test with all your RAM it would crash very quickly, if not immediately.

Ill post some more results with more memory tested

Im also trying to get speed step enabled but it doesnt seem to be working at all.

Its enabled all the power saving options are there but no dice in windows.

Any ideas as to why and also any benifit of running 40x125 vs 50x100?

Also is it better to set a negative offset or positive?

And if idle is arounf 1.1365 volts and I want to be around 1.4365 then wouldnt a positive offset of .29 do it? Hoever in th3 bios .29 =red teritory as in too much does it need to br .029?

There is no real advantage between 100x50 or 125x40. It can just be useful for some chips that struggle with certain multis.

Have you got all the C-states enabled for power saving? Except for c3/c6 which should be off for offset voltage.

Also, positive and negative offsets are just that, positive or negative. If you need more voltage then use positive; if you need less voltage use negative; although I doubt that you will need negative offset for your voltage.

And the offset needs to be whatever it takes to get to the voltage you need. You'll have to adjust, check in windows, adjust etc. etc. Don't be too concerned with the red text in the offset though. It's just a conservative warning that the MB manufacturers use to cover themselves. Most high overclocks will have vCore running in red.
