Hello everyone,
First off I am not sure if this post is in the right section, if it is not please could a mod move the same to where it needs to be.
Now let me begin.
I am running the following system:
AMD 965 BE on a ASRock 990 FX Extreme 3 motherboard.
The chip is being cooled with a Corsair H100.
The system has 16 GB of Corsair Vengeance 1600 ram made up of 4 x 4 GB modules.
I run a HIS 6950 2 GB GPU which has not been unlocked.
The entire system is being powered by a Corsair HX1050 PSU.
The last addition to the build was the PSU, before that the rig run 100% fine.
The problem is the pc is now randomly switching off.
At first I suspected the PSU was fualty and put the old PSU back, which did not work... The pc still switches off.
Then I suspected a short somewhere and stripped the entry PC out and built it outside the case... Whilst doing this I stripped everything out adding back components in the following order:
CPU and Cooler... PC would remain running but would obviously not post.
GPU and HDD... PC would remain running but obviously not post.
RAM module... PC would switch off. To ensure the ram was not faulty I tested each of the modules in each of the slots and each time the pc would switch off.
I then decided to CLR the Bois, which worked. The PC would run without switching off. I built the PC back into my case and it ran but for some reason the H100 was making a terrible grinding noise... After googling a bit I found a solutions where a guy made an adaptor using a 1N4001 diode to reduce the volts over the H100. I did this and that has cured the noisy H100 but know the PC is switching off again and the bois CLR is not working.
Can anyone help?
