What is the best NVIDIA graphics card in $200-$300 range? - Page 2

Thanks fellas! I'm now leaning towards 660 or 660 Ti (I'm guessing Ti will have some benefit?). But which brand makes the best one? MSI? ASUS? EVGA? My old 285 was EVGA. There are so many companies with different cooling technologies and supporting software and it's a bit confusing.

The Ti is a bit faster. If you have a brand preference, go with that. Otherwise, just go with whatever is the cheapest and you like the design of.

Ti are the same chip as the 670/680 with some stuff disabled, and running at a lower clock speed (I expect they are a binned chip, but I don't know for sure). The regular 660 is actually a different chip, I think it's based on the same architecture and something to do with fitting more chips on the wafer for cheaper production. The difference seems fairly small, but I don't know how well a 660 vs a ti overclocks, so if you plan to overclock it, then that needs factoring in.

I don't really know about 660 and ti brands, but I know everyone seems to like the Gigabyte Windforce cards in the top of the range models, people seem to like MSI as well because of the lightnings which seem great, but I have had such bad experiences with MSI RMA service that I would never buy from them again. Asus are the same with terrible RMA service. I'd look at EVGA since I know they do have good service, and possibly Gigabyte who are an unknown for me in terms of service quality.

It seems that MSI one seems to be the best compromise between high performance and low temperature. My old EVGA GTX285 was a closed case cooling design and I would like to try the open-fan design of the MSI as I suspect the temperature appears to be the main cause of most GPU death.

What do you guys think?

So I finally got my GTX660TI PE from MSI and I'm really impressed with its performance.

Just one annoying problem. Every time I put my PC to "sleep" mode and push the power button to bring it operational, the screen stays blank. The PC itself powers on, and so does the keyboards etc...but the screen stays blank and the monitor throws "DVI signal not detected" or something to that effect. What's going on here? Anyone experienced the same problem?
