Win 7 install error: "Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computers hardware"

Hi all. I recently bought an old hp tc4400 tablet pc on ebay. Win 7 installed on the hdd just fine, but when i tried to install on ssd an error message shows right at the end of the install: "Windows Setup could not configure Windows to run on this computers hardware"

I looked into it a little and it has to do with advanced format hdds and stuff like that.

Any advice?

Make sure SATA mode is set to AHCI in the BIOS.

I've been through the bios several times, don't remember seeing anything AHCI related. When I get home I will list the bios settings that seem even remotely relative to sata and hard drives.

What CPU does it have? Some Intel Core Duo's were only 32-bit CPUs meaning you won't be able to install a 64-bit OS on it.

I had that issue as well... You have to have Service pack one on the install disk for it to complete.

If no disk you have to download it from Microsoft.

Or you could get it the internet discounted way just make sure it has service pack 1 on it.

I have x64 windows running on it already with a regular hdd. so it's not the CPU.

I also tried the sp1 thing and windows 8 consumer preview. they both came up with the error.

If you have the hdd and ssd installed at the same time, windows may not install. Its odd, and it sounds silly but I had that issue. Try installing with the ssd installed only. IF it isn't already.
