p.s. I hate you, IDK why I didnt name my computer bender lol

Yea I guess I am trying to get him in to the 900 price range as I think he will get a much better PC all around, but thats just me...

The corsair PSU actually has a rebate. yea rebates are annoying but whatever he will be too busy enjoying his new pc to care. Thats what always happens to me anyway biggrin.gif i'll just get it in the mail when i've forgotten about it lol.

Basically I see it like this, He can build one for 750-800 now that he will want to upgrade in a year or build one for 900-1000 that he won't need to upgrade for 3-4

Thanks for your responses and discussion guys. I think i'll stick with the cheaper processor.

As a side note, I already have a case so there's no need to include one there... also I'll probably want to up my RAM a little bit.

Any particular reason why you chose in your builds to change out the power supply?

well you don't need more than 8gb of ram for a gaming machine. Honestly I didn't even look at your sig rig if you have a 700W psu already i guess use that although i've heard some terrible things about OCZ in general especially the power supplies.

I really think you should get the 3570k but its up to you clearly its your build. Good luck to you.

Yeah, if you salvage from your current build, you can skip getting the storage drive I recommended, and just get an ssd. Then use your current hdd again, then maybe use the psu you have now, then upgrade the gpu if you dont want a 3570k, and dont get a z77 board if you arent overclocking. You really might kick yourself down the road not getting a K series processor though, it will have way better resale value, or just overclock it later on to 4.7ghz or so with a decent heatsink.

p.s. idk if you mean faster ram, but sandy and ivy dont benefit from ram faster than 1333mhz outside of benchmarking or using the igpu. If you mean more ram, you wont ever use more than 8gb of ram for gaming.

I overclocked that ram to 1600mhz 9-10-9-24 1.5v easy, not needed. Or you could get the 30nm samsung ram, but it costs more.

I guarantee he will regret not getting the 3570k I mean, its so easy to pull 1+ghz extra out of it... think about it dude. $20 for +1ghz .................... Intel never has jumps like that usually. Yea if you are not gonna need a PSU take that 80-90 dollars and buy a 7950 100% fact that is what you should do if you are a gamer.

Someone back me up lol I feel like he is gonna make a big mistake on this build.

Yeah, initially for 800 bucks, that was out of the picture pretty much, but if he is JUST salvagine the case he has, that is 50$ or more saved, so put that towards a 3570k and hyper 212 plus. 40$ total for the bump, and you should do 4.5ghz easy.

What're the details for overclocking the 3570K? I've dabbled in overclocking before, so I'm only aware of how the FSB and multiplier give you your clock. Is it as simple as just upping the FSB (given the vcore is sufficient).

All you do it set the voltage, and then up the multiplier to what clock you want. You dont need to mess with the fsb.

just search this site for detailed info but basically you just up the vcore + multiplier and yea you can get 4.5 ghz easy on almost any 3570k with a 212 evo air cooler.
