Can a 6850 OC work in any way with a new 7870 ? with no crossfire...and a eyefinity question

Hello this is my first post and im not at my place atm...thats why my pic ect have not been added yet... but i wanted to ask some thing.

i have Intel core i5 2500k stock.
Noctua D-14
16gb ddr3 2133mhz ripjaws ram
1tb WD green, 2tb WD green
gigabit 6850OC atm
asrock z67 extreme3 gen3
cooler master cosmos 2 ultra tower
900w Antec.. um name is lost in my mind but it is red paint.



Can a 6850 OC work in any way with a new 7870 ? with no crossfire?? as in use the 7870 as main but have the 6850 in the slot 2? and not having the crossfire bridge on can it be used in any way to help out the other one?.....

Also the main reson i ask this is because i have 3, 24inch LED LG screens in eyefinity,, and i had 2 6850s but one died.. and now on all my games i can only run low grafs... bf3 i only get 38fps on every thing maxlowed... and for eyefinity i was thinking of ither stay with what i got? or crossfire 2 7770s? or one 7870? is there a massive diffrence between 7770s and one 7870 or the 6850? that is also all i can afford atm but in the future i will get 2 6970 6Gb in crossfire when iv saved up the cash.

in the end 1 7870? or 2 7770s? for my eyefinity.

also if any one wants to see pics ill post them of my pc..

A single card would be better than Xfire. Why not sell a 6850 and get a 7950?(You can buy it used or pick it ar some sale).

After overclocking it would give you decent fps.

crossfire 7770's will provide a bit more power than a single 7870 but if you run multi-monitors and run games like BF3 the 7770's will choke compared to the 7870. a 7870's will provide decent frames in multi-monitor.

sell your working HD 6850 for 90 - 100 bucks. The HD 7000 series cards are much better for BF3. if you can afford a HD 7950 get it. otherwise get a HD 7870. With 12.11 beta drivers a single HD 7950 at 1.15 Ghz can play BF3 at Ultra settings without MSAA at 5760 x 1080 at close to 50 fps. its massively powerful. if you want proof ask in the HD 7900 users thread thumb.gif

i wanna give it to my boy friend.. he has a 9600gt so he needs this... he can barly play skyrim on this 27inch led.. and i wann give it to him as a small gift..ok and also i only have 200 to spend

opps sorry dident know how to do this:

i wanna give it to my boy friend.. he has a 9600gt so he needs this... he can barly play skyrim on this 27inch led.. and i wann give it to him as a small gift..ok and also i only have 200 to spend

Ah thanks.i can notes a diffrenc around 45FPS on bf3 where it gets smoth to move... also sorry my spelling is very bad

Can you atleast spend a bit more . for eyefinity the HD 7870 is what i would consider bare minimum to play at medium to high settings. also are you from the US.

in australia i would not get more then $40 to$50 for it... this old and used..
