Seems as though holographic CD are debuting this week. The discs are 300GB capacity at $100 - $125 per pop and the drive to operate them nearing $15,000!!! We all knew Blu-Ray was expensive but this takes the cake. Obviously this is brand new tech and is quite expensive

This is not even amazing anymore. It's sad. What do they think their doing? 300GB CD? What's the point of HDDs? Who will actually buy a CD for $100-$150 and the drive for $15,000? I rather have that money go to a new car. They are R E T A R D S!

Yah, considering that magnetic tapes cost a ridiculous amount of money---more than these CDs---all a company will have to do is pony up the 15k and they can have all of their data in like one spindle instead of having rows and rows and rows and rows and rows and rows and rows of tapes.

Trust me, I used to work as a tape operator at State Farm. They have a massive room in the basement that has about 40-50 auto-loaded tape machines, 20 manual-loaded tape machines, and well over 10k tapes. What was all of this backing up? The legal department's stuff. Now, imagine if they handled all of their own financial data backups...
