Yeah it's normal. You must remember that the chips can get effectively hot enough to boil water and still be ok. As long as it doesn't freeze up, aftifact, etc, you are good.

@OP; Saying it is "overheating" is too ambiguous. What are the temps your cpu, GPU, etc. actually showing.?

Yikes. I have put IC diamond on both my GPU and CPU to help keep things cool, it was a pain to do but worth it, you should try that. (or a laptop cooling pad.)

Computer is plastic with no bottom vents, and this is the inside:

It's 5 years old, so obviously it hasn't degraded too much from heat. It is what it is (the thermals), and aside from being annoying, it gets the job done.
