[VC] ASUS GTX680 DCII 4GB *Dual Slot*

Thread Starter
What do you guys think?
One thing that was a turn off was the 3 slot design of the cooler, this takes care of that issue completely !
Quote:
ASUS GeForce GTX 680 4GB DirectCU II (GTX680-DC2-4GD5) is the first GTX 680 from ASUS to feature the dual-slot design.

Looks good. 4GB is a plus, but likely not needed. Never understood the need for 3 slots because other similar cards cool just as good and some better at dual slot. Boost could have been a bit higher.

Not bad, the price isn't outrageous for the extra memory either.

only problem I see is evga doesn't make it , no but really it is good to get away from the 3 slot thing for a single graphics card.

FINALLY Asus get it.

Now they need to do the same for HD7970 DCII, which also happens to be a triple-slotter.

Finally! I had the dual-slot HD6950 DirectCUII and had no issues with it. I considered getting the DCII GTX680 when I upgraded to my current Gigabyte GTX680 but the triple-slot design was unacceptable!

The ASUS triple slot cards typically have the lowest temps especially in comparison to noise level in all the tests i've seen. The cooling on the ASUS 7970 Matrix is the best by far of any current gen card I've seen reviewed outside of maybe the GTX 690.

no, they do not cool "just as good", they certainly cool well enough, but certainly not on the same level, especially when considering fan speed (and thus noise)

that being said, triple slot DCII doesn't exactly make sense on a chip as naturally cool as the GK104, especially when we can't pump all the volts we want into it

GK110 on the other hand, if it does ever see the light of day in the consumer space, I will most certainly prefer to have a triple slot cooler or better
