Today was my first experience with Steam. I am totally disgusted with my experience, on two separate machines even.
I am down to Two problems, one on PC, One on Laptop.
PC...
ok, finally after several hours I have come to the conclusion that something on my PC is restricting me from being able to connect to steam. Both computers on the same network, W7 (different versions, laptop has pro, PC has ultimate) and I had no problems connecting to steam on laptop once I set up the ports in the external firewall (Endian). Both running Microsoft Security Essentials, with windows firewall. I tried disabling the firewall, still no go. Why does Steam not connect?

After uninstalling a reinstalling the whole steam process, because of this not working, I still have the same prob, the game crashes on opening.

Also it asked me to set up Outlook... ??? After fiddling with user and accounts > mail, I stopped receiving the mail error. Why did it need me to set up outlook just to enter mail info, and why does it need my password?? Yes I downloaded it from Steam.
I don't like the fact of it asking for my email and Password !!
I did receive an email form Steam giving me a code for me to run steam on another computer using my account. That part worked.
Any idea's on repairing this error? I do have a debugging report as well but I have yet learned how to open and read them.
