Steam,, Prob after prob after prob!! !! ?? - Page 2

I bypassed my network set up and plugged right into the ISP modem, and same prob. I did find some game issues on Steam and applied the fixes with DirectX and a couple other things including permissions. I still have this error ---^ (posted above) on both machines. Is there anyway I can just run the game with using steam? Like in the days of putting in the CD and play !!??

Perhaps (i know it sounds stupid) it might be 3rd program you use on both machines? maybe even your anti virus? sorry for the crappy suggestions, just trying to keep the ball rolling.

Not stupid at all!! In fact, Steam has a list of programs that interfere!! I am not running any of them on either machine, though.
I am running Microsoft security essentials on both, but I did turn it off, had to kill the services, but I still had the prob.

Microsoft security essentials is turned off form with in the program, I haven no experience turning it of via service though i know what that is and how to do it, I wouldn't be too sure it's staying off I'm not entirely sure but, it might able to turn it's self back on after a few seconds, I have seen other services/programs do it.

Agreed! I too have witnessed this. Although one would think that Steam would quickly address any problems with major Microsoft products rather quickly due to the vast numbers of users that would it effect.
I did send the error and .dmp to Steam, I am still awaiting a response. Its disappointing that I am stuck not being able to play this game that I legitimately paid for!! I wish I had the option to just run the game without using Steam!!

Well technically you do have that option but, I and the TOS perfect we not talk about it though it could work as work around while you are getting this steam issue sorted. Either way it has to be something as both machines won't connect and both crashing?

Yes they should run in offline mode. I assume the OS on both machines in 7?
