I sure hope someone can help me with an overclocking problem.

I have a MSI K9N SLI PLATINUM mobo with a AMD Sempron 3400+ 1.81GHZ CPU. I am building a new PC so I decided while I wait, a week, for my parts to arrive I'll play around with overclocking this one.

Bad idea..

I changed the FSB to.. Well i don't remember now.. 225MHZ or 220MHZ maybe. Nonetheless, my pc won't even POST now. It powers up but my monitor doesn't even come on. I cleared the cmos, atleast I think I did. I held the button, pulled the power, pulled the battery.. Even left the battery out all night because it never seemed to make a difference. Same thing. Once, the first time I did this, it did come up and say everything was reset to default but wasn't responding to keyboard and mouse. It said press a key to continue. Eventually I decided I need a PS2 keyboard and mouse. Which I got and restarted the PC, but its never came back to that screen or any screen at all.

I've read that a lot of times if you change the FSB that it takes a different "resetting" process. But can't find any information on that.

I have work on here and some other things I need. And I know, it wasn't the smartest idea but surely this thing still has life. Please, if anyone can help I would be extremely appreciative..

Hmm my Intel system can be problematic too when an overclock fails. Try clearing the CMOS again by pulling the battery, try it with the power supply plugged in and with it out. Then try changing USB ports for your kB and mouse. Also try give the graphics card a reset and when you turn your PC on cycle through the input sources, sometimes mine struggles to pick up the PC source so I have to keep clicking the source button on the monitor as well as bashing the mouse1 button and DEL key when it starts. Its annoying but sometimes it takes me like 10 attempts to get my PC back after a bad overclock.

I'll give it some more tries.. I've tried about every combination I believe of clearing the cmos.. Not sure I tried with power on though.

I do have a video card installed but there is no onboard video. Which sucks..

Thanks for these tips though. I haven't given up.

you don't clear cmos with power on..you unplug then move the jumper for 8 seconds..put it back and boot.check your RAM sticks in case you knocked one loose or something.

From what I've read the correct procedure for my board is this:

1.) press CMOS RESET BUTTON for atleast 3 seconds.
2.) Unplug power cord
3.) Remove battery and leave out for a bit
4.) Plug power cord back in
5.) put battery back in

I've tried a ton of different combinations. Like I said, the first time I did this procedure correctly it did come up and say to restore to defaults hit any key. But I didn't have a ps2 keyboard on it. So I put one on and restarted and the battle began.. LOL..

ok..power it up..press the cmos key(guess you have a button) hold it down for 8 seconds..then switch psu off until power drains from mobo..then boot.
