This is pissing me off pretty badly.
To start, I have an i5 760 on an Asus P7H55M/USB3 board with a reference HD 5770 GPU.
During the Windows installation process, the screen goes blank but not into standby.
This was 'rectified' after I read on the Internet that you had to have a second input on the GPU. Not having a second monitor available meant I had to drag the DVI cable that was connected from the Samsung 940B to my other rig, and use that as some sort of temporary input.
The screen would then go on to work for a minute or so before going blank again. Reviving the display meant disconnecting and connecting the connection from GPU to monitor again.
The Internet says that the Windows WDDM drivers are to be blamed for this (I'm downloading 12.1 now to see if that changes anything) but since this PC is going to have to be reformatted once more before I put it into service, how am I to ensure that I don't literally rape my ports loose from now till then?
As a matter of fact, the screen has gone off on me about 25 times whilst writing this post.
I'm pretty fed up with having to connect and disconnect cables here and there, every now and then...
