I know this has been done to death, but I am looking to upgrade my current Twin Frozr II 6870 to a 7970, or 7950.
I am going to have some money rolling in soon so I'm going to spend the left-overs on well needed upgrade. I know that the 7970 is the flagship AMD card but I want to know if it is REALLY worth the extra cost. I have no problems spending money on a superior product. I keep reading however that the 7950 is VERY good bang-for-buck, especially if you get one that has been stock-overclocked. I want to hear from actual people who have or know actual everyday useage of the two cards. I don't really pay attention to benchmarks they don't tell the whole story.
So just some outlining things---
I don't plan on crossfireing. I don't want nVidia I already have an AMD eco-system. I DO NOT overclock GPUs at ALL it's just a rule (CPU's I'm fine with). I plan on using it for gaming primarily, things like....
BF3 @ 1920x1080
Crysis 2 @ 1920x1080
Total War Shogun 2 + Empire Total War @ 1920 x 1080 (maxed settings)
(and soon) Assassin's Creed III @ 1920x1080 max settings
I'm currently looking at these
