Thread Starter
alright so i convinced my buddy to upgrade his rig, he's still running 775.

talking him into getting a 2500k with an asrock z77 board and some decent ram.
but our other buddy is selling his old components.
he's gotta an i7 950 bloomfield with an asus P6X58D-E with some ocz gold 1333 - all for 300 bucks.

what should he get?
i'll be honest im not the pro at intel rolleyes.gif, but i think intel would be a good choice for my friend.
lemme know guys, thanks.

The i7 and the i5 will both destroy games on a single GPU, even dual. If he wants to fold, definitely the i7. Upgrading to 1366 isn't a very good choice because the socket is dead, but it's still a very good CPU and motherboard.
If he can find a deal on the 2500k and a motherboard for $300, I would go with that. Lower power consumption and probably the best reviewed CPU ever.

yeah micro center has the 2500k for $160, and an Asrock z77 for $135. But there's also the 3570k for $170. im thinking for $10 more, might as well get the 3570k..
