What you expect most of OCN runs into a thread with their eyes close posting the first thing that pops into their heads. Instead of actually reading the whole source link.

repi (DICE Rendering Architect) is somewhat excited over it:

Glad to see 2 of my early key requests for DX11.1 got in: large cbuffers with subranges & NO_OVERWRITE on SRVs, will be good CPU perf help

DX11.1 would be nice, but what we need most is just to kill off DX9. XP needs to die already.

Kill DX9 support on Microsoft platforms and give DX9 support to Linux. thumbsupsmiley.png

That is the worst idea imaginable. That would pretty much kill all hope for OpenGL, not to mention giving more longevity to DX9, which is already extremely antiquated.

As far as I can tell all DX11 is good for is ruining my framerate. I'm fine upgrading to DX12 with Windows 9.

As far as I can tell, you're doing something terribly, terribly wrong. DX11 is a tremendously more efficient API. Also, there's no guarantee of DX12 with Windows 9. There's a huge lack of information on upcoming GPUs (which would have to be designed to support the theoretical new API) and there's next to nothing on Windows 9 as well.

well, here is another example of microsoft FORCING people to move to win8. they are trying to dummy-you-down, oohhh, look at the pretty boxes, oohhh, it's like a tablet, oohhh, it's like a phone, oohhh, it's so kool., come on people, it looks like a bad joke from fisher price, and it wouldn't be that bad if it was a true CHOICE that people had to CHOOSE the os that they wanted, it seems like they are trying to FORCE-FEED it to the public. i don't agree at all with their TACTICS. all in all, the choice is up to you, i for one like an os that looks like an os, (i'm not a three year old that can be lead around by waving pretty colors in front of my face). then to come out with stuff and tell you that it's not supported by win7(their most sucsessful os ever), i wouldn't be surprised if they came out next month and told people that they will no longer support win7, but hey, do what you want, what ever choice you make i wish you the best with it,

you couldn't pay me money to switch from win7 to that
