Just thinking about raiding 2 sata III mechanical hard drives some time soon and was actually wondering if it was better running Raid 0 on the 6GB/s Marvell Chipset or the 3GB/s Intel chipset?

Granted, this is comparing the performance of solid state drives, but I have a feeling that this may still apply in the same way. I have yet to see someone on here who actually likes the Marvell controller.

From what i gather from the thread, well the pictures anyway, the sata II would be the better option? considering the fact that the random writes are more important then sequential. correct me if i'm wrong

Hard drives cannot fully saturate SATA2 yet. I'd put them on the Intel SATA2 ports. It's best to get the lowest access times possible, which the southbridge SATA controller is more likely to deliver than the Marvell add-in chip.
