Recycled Material Used For Modding

Thread Starter
So I saw a thread about using microwave doors as a cheap source for modders mesh, and it got me wondering...

What ideas do you folks have for using found materials for modding? I'm not talking about ghetto rigging, but using found materials to make a nice looking mod.

So... Whatcha' got? Show pics!

Not a bad idea. The ones on the toys probably wouldn't be that bright, though.

I found that if you have spare stock intel coolers sitting around that they will manhandle into almost any typical computer mesh. Here is an example of what I did on an old PSU that had it's fan fail. Note the fan is blowing air into the PSU.

Good idea! I wouldn't use a psu like that for long, but if you're in a pinch...

Yeah it is a 530w psu, I figured I can put it into an low wattage computer and it should not heat-up too much. I kind of think it is silly that they used a 135mm fan...it is like they are trying to get more business by putting weird sized fans.

Would that surprise you? lol

I've been scavenging fans from dead or cheap PSU's for years. No point in wasting a perfectly good fan. My last case had 4 fans from PSU's in it. Much cheaper than paying $10-$20 for a fan.

on some recycling bins that look sort of like this their wild be black rubber around the edges. works surprisingly well as edge moulding for a fan cut out or something.
